In the heart of December, against the stunning backdrop of Yosemite National Park, I had the immense privilege of capturing the intimate elopement of Ashley and Daniel. Despite the weatherman calling for rain, their day turned out to be this unexpected mix of beautiful and serendipitous moments that just made their love story pop.
So, I roll up, stoked to catch Ashley and Daniel’s first look in the meadow at Swinging Bridge. The air is crisp, and a little sprinkle welcomes us. But get this – as they start saying their vows, the clouds decide to part, revealing this dreamy mist that adds this cool depth to the pics, all against the epic backdrop of Yosemite Falls.
Surrounded by their crew, Ashley and Daniel spill their hearts out with some seriously heartfelt vows. Witnessing the groom, Daniel, become visibly teary-eyed as he expressed his profound love for Ashley created a truly touching moment. The misty air and the grandeur of Yosemite Falls served as the perfect backdrop for this intimate and emotional ceremony.
Exploring Yosemite’s Beauty: Post-ceremony, we hung around in the meadow for more magical moments and some fun with movement and more cinematic photography before making our way to the Yosemite Chapel. Quick snapshots in front of this iconic spot set the vibe for the next adventure.
The roaring falls make for some seriously stunning photos, and was the perfect way for Ashley and Daniel to soak in some private-time together. I let them slip away to a private spot beneath the falls to exchange some intimate words together. I think it’s so important for the bridge and groom to get to bask in their first view moments of husband and wife together, and Yosemite Falls is a great spot for this because I can hang back and truly let them have their privacy, as the roaring falls easily muffle their dialogue.
Our journey continued to Tunnelview, where we seized the opportunity to capture more captivating images. The scenic beauty of Yosemite provided an ever-changing canvas for Ashley and Daniel’s love story, and each location became a chapter in their visual narrative. Tunnelview was right on the way back to the Redwoods, where they had rented a cabin, and with it’s quintessential view of the Yosemite Valley, we couldn’t not stop by and snap a few pics there on the way up!
The day wrapped up with a chill hang at their cabin in Wawona, where Ashley and Daniel threw down with their awesome family. Good vibes, laughter, and some solid dance moves made for an epic celebration. It was an afternoon filled with shared happiness, marking the union of two awesome souls in love.
Ashley and Daniel’s Yosemite elopement was this mix of unexpected magic and real moments. Being there to capture their love story against Yosemite’s backdrop felt like catching lightning in a bottle. Every shot, from misty vows to epic falls, painted a visual masterpiece that will forever be etched in their hearts. And yeah, it was pretty darn awesome to be a part of it all!
